Before Iceland was a popular tourist attraction, it was a top destination for astronauts looking to prepare for life on the moon. The island has more than 30 volcanoes, 13 of which have been active in the past few centuries. The soot from the hardened lava has turned to ash and infused some of the beaches including Vìk, a popular destination on the Gold Coast tour.
I managed to capture one of the dozens of seagulls flying the area and completely avoided the two odd hang gliders drifting to the South of where this image was taken. Iceland is truly a place like no other and even though it's pricey for tourists, it's worth it to explore some of these World wonders.
